2 Pickup Trucks Crash on State Route Highway 24
LAFAYETTE, Calif. (Dec. 3, 2021) — A Lafayette crash on Highway 24 involved two pickup trucks east of El Curtola Boulevard and west of the I-680 Freeway.
The collision happened in the eastbound lanes of State Route 24 about 1:25 p.m. on Dec. 3rd, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A driver in a silver Dodge Ram pickup truck was reportedly speeding and swerving “all over the roadway,” the CHP report said. The pickup truck allegedly slammed hard into the center divider before it rear-ended a black pickup truck. The Dodge Ram spun out and crashed into a guardrail on the right shoulder, police said. The black pickup truck went up the embankment during the collision.
A witness called 911 to report the crash and suggested an ambulance respond.
Contra Costa County Fire responded to the scene to help anyone hurt in the crash, but there are no further details.
The freeway reopened to traffic by 2:23 p.m.
Investigators seek to determine fault for the crash and if any charges or citations will be given out.
