1 Seriously Injured in Laguna Beach Crash on Southbound 73 Freeway Near Toll Plaza
LAGUNA BEACH, CA (July 23, 2021) – At least one was seriously injured after a car crash on the 73 Freeway in Laguna Beach.
The California Highway Patrol dispatch team said the accident took place on Friday morning. Officers reported the wreck shortly before 9:30 a.m.
According to CHP, a 2019 white Mercedes GLC300 SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed on the southbound 73 Freeway in Laguna Beach.
Speeding Driver Hits Vehicles
The speeding driver then slammed into two other vehicles, just south of the toll plaza. The incident log described them as 1999 maroon Toyota Sienna minivan and a black Chevrolet.
One of the vehicles involved rolled over upon impact. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found one person hurt as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then took the patient to a hospital for treatment of major injuries. Officials did not disclose the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP forced all southbound lanes of the 73 Freeway to shut down for an hour and a half following the wreck. Authorities are still investigating the Laguna Beach crash.
