LAKE ELSINORE, California (July 12, 2016) –Nine people including eight children were taken to hospital following a two-vehicle crash involving a suspected drunk driver at the intersection of West Lakeshore Drive and Hursh Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The crash took place about 7:09 p.m. last night. The drivers of a Chevrolet Astro van and a red Chevrolet Suburban SUV collided at the intersection. The man driving the van was not injured, but was suspected of being DUI.
The woman in the SUV had eight children with her ages 7 to 17 years old. Paramedics at the scene treated them for complaints of pain and minor injuries and then transported all nine of them to a local hospital for further treatment and evaluation.
The Lake Elsinore Police Station was investigating the crash and determined that the driver of the van, Bruce Milton McCullin, 38, of Lake Elsinore, should be arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. Police took McCullin to the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta where he is being held on DUI charges.
