2-Vehicle Crash on State Route 74 or Ortega Highway
LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. (Dec. 30, 2024) — A two-vehicle crash in Lake Elsinore happened Monday afternoon on Ortega Highway 74, a half mile east of Lion Canyon.
The traffic collision occurred at 12:50 p.m. on Dec. 30th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported a gold Mazda Miata and a Nissan SUV were involved. An automated message from an Apple watch alerted 911 dispatchers to the collision.
A passenger in the Mazda told CHP dispatch the driver of the vehicle had their leg stuck and was bleeding and needed help.
Cal Fire Riverside sent firefighters to extricate the injured driver from the Mazda and also assisted others who might be hurt.
Tow trucks removed both vehicles from the highway and investigators are working to determine fault for the Lake Elsinore crash on Ortega Highway.
