LAKE ELSINORE, California (February 19, 2015) — A 21-year-old woman was critically injured early Thursday morning when the car she was riding as a passenger in struck a pole and overturned near the intersection of Machado and Joy streets, according to a press release by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
About 1:27 a.m., Lake Elsinore Police officers say Tara Havens, 21, of Corona was driving her Jeep northbound on Machado Street when she hit a power police on the east side of the road. The vehicle overturned and her passenger was ejected and became trapped underneath the car.
Paramedics responded and quickly transported the critically-injured passenger to a local hospital where she was treated for major injuries. She was listed in critical, but stable condition.
Police suspected the driver of being under the influence of alcohol and she was subsequently arrested and booked at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta.
