LAKE ELSINORE, California (August 16, 201 6) — A man identified as Edward Lujan, 48, of Lake Elsinore, was fatally struck by his own vehicle Tuesday afternoon at the address of 33000 Evergreen Street.
The fatal incident took place about 1:14 p.m. as Lujan who worked as an exterminator was parked at a residence grabbing equipment from the truck of the vehicle before the vehicle suddenly shifted gears.
Lujan attempted to stop the truck but was tragically caught and dragged causing him to be crushed by the vehicle.
The vehicle continued moving until it struck a tree inflicting fatal injuries to the 48-year-old man as he suffered severe upper body trauma.
The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner responded to the scene as did his family members of the victim who began to arrive at the scene shortly after the fatal crash.
A thorough investigation will ensue which will determine why the vehicle began moving after initially being geared in park.
