Fiery Collision on Highway 178 in Lake Isabella
LAKE ISABELLA, Calif. (Feb. 18, 2025) — A Lake Isabella crash on Highway 178 happened Tuesday between a semi-truck and a Subaru at Old Isabella Road.
The fiery, two-vehicle crash occurred at 12:15 p.m. on Feb. 18th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A woman driving a red 2019 Subaru Impreza reportedly lost control of her vehicle. The car went off the roadway and hit some signs before colliding with a semi-truck. The Impreza caught on fire with its driver still inside, but someone was attempting to help the woman out.
Police and firefighters responded to extinguish the fire and requested a tow truck to remove the damaged Subaru from the highway.
Donna Lynn Sulu, 62, of Lake Isabella, was taken to Kern Valley Hospital where she later died from her injuries, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
Meanwhile, the truck driver had complaints of pain following the collision.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the crash on Highway 178 in Lake Isabella.
