LAKE LOS ANGELES, California (February 2, 2017) – A 16-year-old bicyclist was fatally struck on Palmdale Boulevard early Wednesday morning, according to The Antelope Valley Times.
Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Oswaldo Plata, of Lake Los Angeles.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said the collision took place around 4:36 a.m., west of 130th Street East.
CHP affirmed that Plata was riding a Kent Road Tech bicycle east in the eastbound lane of Palmdale Boulevard when he was hit from behind by a 2011 Lexus IS250.
Plata was then ejected from his bike. He died at the scene.
Meanwhile the woman driving the Lexus claimed she was traveling about 58 miles per hour at the time of the accident. She was unharmed.
Alcohol and/or drugs did not appear to have played a role in the incident which remains under investigation.
