1 Injured in Hit-and-Run Boating Incident on Lake Oroville

LAKE OROVILLE, CA (May 31, 2021) – A hit-and-run boating incident injured one person on Lake Oroville near the Highway 162 suspension bridge.

According to the Action News Now and Red Bluff News, the accident took place on Saturday afternoon. Officers reported the collision on May 29 at around 5 p.m.

The incident happened when a person was thrown from a jet ski on Lake Oroville. For an unknown reason, a passing vessel then struck him near the Bidwell Bar Bridge.

Paramedics responded to the scene and found the victim left wounded at the Loafer Creek Launch Ramp ramp area. They treated him for the multiple lacerations he sustained as a result of the crash.

Hit-and-Run Near Highway 162 Suspension Bridge

Officials did not disclose the name of the wounded party and his condition at this time. Meanwhile, the operator of the vessel did not stop to render aid.

The suspect continued in the direction of Bidwell Canyon Marina or possibly the main body of the lake. State Park Rangers described the vessel as a light blue boat with a tower.

Authorities added that several men were riding the boat, possibly a wakeboard style vessel, when the collision occurred. The Lake Oroville hit-and-run boating crash is still under investigation.
