Teacher Allegedly Had 3-Year Sexual Relationship with Teenage Student
LONG BEACH, California (Sept. 15, 2017) — Mary Jahn, 52, of Lakewood is facing nine sex-related charges based on an alleged inappropriate sexual relationship she had with a former 15-year-old student at Lakewood High School where she worked as an English teacher.
The counts filed against Jahn include four counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object, three for lewd acts upon a child and two for oral copulation on a person under 18 years old.
She is scheduled to be arraigned in a Long Beach courtroom.
The incidents are alleged to have taken place six years ago at the school where Jahn was an English teacher and the female student was 15. The teenager is now an adult and contacted police to report what allegedly happened. The time period was between July 2008 and July 2011, said Deputy District Attorney Troy Davis.
Jahn worked at the school between 2006 and May 11, 2017 when she was put on leave by the Long Beach Unified School District. She is being held in lieu of $750,000 bail and faces up to eight years in jail if convicted of the crimes she is charged with. She also faces a lifetime of having to register as a sexual offender.
Police continue to gather information about the suspect’s relationship and the investigation is ongoing.
