Lakia Jackson, 41, ID’d as Suspect in Downey DUI Crash on 105 Freeway
DOWNEY, CA (April 29, 2022) – Authorities detained Lakia Jackson after a DUI crash on the 105 Freeway in Downey.
The California Highway Patrol determined that the 41-year-old woman was under the influence when the wreck took place on Thursday.
The incident began when Lakia Jackson was driving a light-colored Mazda CX-9 SUV at a high rate of speed east on the 105 Freeway in Downey.
In the process, she struck a patrol car stopped in the area. Two CHP officers were inside their unit while a third officer was standing outside their vehicle.
3 CHP Officers Seriously Injured in Wreck
The CHP vehicle spun out of control, hit the third officer and caught fire. The officers were responding to a separate accident on the freeway near Lakewood Boulevard at the time.
The SUV then swerved to the right and slammed into a Hyundai Elantra. My News LA wrote that the collision occurred on April 28 at about 1:24 a.m.
The two officers inside the car sustained moderate injuries while the third officer suffered serious injuries as a result of the wreck. Paramedics rushed them to the hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, Lakia Jackson survived with minor injuries following the crash. The reports did not disclose the names of the wounded victims and their condition at this time.
CHP soon arrested and took Lakia Jackson into custody on suspicion of DUI. The Downey DUI crash is still under investigation.
