Brittany Ingress, 30, Arraigned on Child Cruelty Charge
LANCASTER, California (March 29, 2016) – A 5-month-old boy died after he was assaulted at his home earlier this week by his babysitter, according to KTLA.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said deputies and firefighters responded to a call of a baby who was reportedly not breathing on Gadsden Avenue about 5:20 p.m.
The boy, Aiden Lopez, was rushed to a hospital with serious head trauma and bruises to his upper torso. He succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning, March 27.
As per KTLA, sheriff’s detectives affirmed that 30-year-old Lancaster resident Brittany Ingress, who was babysitting the boy at the time, was taken into custody on suspicion of cruelty to a child likely to produce great bodily injury or death. She has been identified as a longtime friend of the baby’s father.
The suspect was arraigned on the child cruelty charge earlier this week. She was being held Saturday at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, in lieu of $1 million bail.
