LANCASTER, California (March 7, 2017) – According to California Highway Patrol dispatch team, a head-on collision occurred in the area of East Avenue E and North Division Street late Tuesday night.
CHP first logged the incident about 10:45 p.m.
In an article by The Antelope Valley Times, CHP said 44-year-old Benny Serrano was driving a 1994 Ford F150 pickup truck west on East Avenue E when for an unknown he veered into the eastbound lane and crashed head-on into a 2013 Freightliner tractor-trailer.
Serrano was ejected from his vehicle onto the roadway. The Palmdale man died at the scene.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the 41-year-old Littlerock man, Wilson Guardado, driving the semi-truck was unharmed. He was reportedly traveling 55 miles per hour at the time.
Authorities are gathering more information and evidence to determine the cause of the accident.
