LAPD Vehicle Hits, Kills Pedestrian on Woodman Avenue, Halloween Night

Woman, 32, Hit by LAPD Officer Responding Rowdy Halloween Party

VAN NUYS, Calif. (Nov. 2, 2026) – An LAPD patrol car struck and killed a young woman Halloween night while responding to an emergency call on Woodman Avenue in Van Nuys.

The 32-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. It happened around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31st in the 6100 block of Woodman Avenue, near Bessemer Street in Van Nuys, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police say the LAPD cruiser was responding to a call about possible shots fired at a Halloween party with roughly a thousand people in Sherman Oaks, roughly a mile from the crash scene.

Authorities say the woman was in a crosswalk when she was struck by the LAPD’s cruiser from the North Hollywood Division.
