Police Release Video of Suspect in Fatal Hit-and-run Pedestrian Accident
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 2, 2020) — The Los Angeles Police Department released a video of the suspected hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a man on Central Street at Central Street in Los Angeles on September 27, 2020.
The crash took place around 7:45 p.m. at the intersection with 4th Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Traffic Division.
The victim, who was wearing a black hoodie and dark pants, was dragging some packages behind him and crossing against a red light as he crossed the street in a marked crosswalk.
A male driver in a dark-colored SUV was heading southbound on Central Street and had a green light when he struck the pedestrian. The driver failed to stop, made a U-turn and turned right on 4th Street as he fled the scene.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics rushed the severely injured man to a hospital where he later died on October 1, 2020. The identity of the pedestrian has not yet been released by the Los Angeles County Coroner.
The City Council offers a $50,000 reward in a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund to anyone who provides information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
