2 Killed in Lassen County Crash on Highway 395 Near Flux Road
LASSEN COUNTY, CA (June 23, 2021) – A car crash killed two people and injured a third person on Highway 395 in Lassen County.
According to an article published by The Lassen County Times, the tragic accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at about 12:07 p.m.
The incident happened on June 22 when traffic was stopped due to a prior collision on Highway 395, north of Flux Road, in Lassen County.
For an unknown reason, a white tractor-trailer combination failed to slow for traffic. Its operator, Joshua Virts, then slammed into the rear of a red GMC Yukon.

The California Highway Patrol said the GMC ended up sandwiched between the white colored vehicle and another tractor-trailer in front of the car.
The two occupants of the Yukon, both from Herlong, died at the scene. CHP described them as the 51-year-old female driver and her 25-year-old male passenger.
Virts, of Belt, Montana, sustained unspecified injuries as a result of the wreck. Medical personnel took him to the Renown Hospital for treatment.
The names of the deceased victims have not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, CHP forced Highway 395 to shut down for a time following the wreck.
The cause of the fatal Lassen County crash is still under investigation.
