Major Injury Collision on West Side (5) Freeway Sunday
Lathrop, CA (August 15, 2021) – At least one person suffered serious injuries following a car accident that occurred on Interstate 5, also known as West Side Freeway, Sunday morning.
The California Highway Patrol group reported a passenger vehicle overturned while traveling in the northbound side of freeway. For an unknown reason, the gray Lexus car rolled over in the area near Mossdale Road offramp in Lathrop.
Officials said the vehicle ended up plowing trough 40 feet of barbed wire fence; and only came to a rest after slamming into a metal pole.

Shortly after 4:11 a.m., medical personnel arrived at the location and rendered aid to all possible victims. After the evaluation, authorities confirmed at least one person suffered major injuries as a result of the wreck. Additional details on the victim have not been discussed thus far.
Investigators handling the case continue to work at this time to determine exactly how and why the car accident in Lathrop happened.
