Woman Dead, 2 Children Hurt in Freak Chain-Reaction Collisions
LATHROP (June 11, 2018)– According to KCRA News, a deadly collision involving four vehicles transpired this morning between 1:30 and 2:00 a.m. on I-5 north from I-205.
California Highway Patrol officials confirmed that the driver of a box truck lost control and turned onto its side for unknown reasons.
2 Box Trucks and 2 Vehicles Involved in Wreck
A short period of time later, a woman driving an undisclosed vehicle struck the box truck as it rested in the middle of the road unable to avoid a collision. The woman driving the crashed vehicle exited her car and received assistance via the help of a Good Samaritan.
Moments later, a second box truck collided with all previously involved vehicles including the Good Samaritan’s car.
The aftermath of the wreck tragically left the woman who was originally involved in the initial collision with fatal injuries after one of the vehicles struck and was pushed into her as she was pronounced dead at the scene. She has not been identified at this time.
Meanwhile, two children who were riding passenger either with the Good Samaritan or the fatal victim were injured, one seriously, according to KCRA News.
The other parties involved suffered minor injuries, per California Highway Patrol officials.
No further details have been released at this time as this accident remains under investigation.
