LATHROP: Major Injury Car Accident on I-5 Freeway Near Louise Avenue

STOCKTON, Calif., (July 27, 2026) — A major injury traffic collision in Lathrop involving two vehicles occurred early Monday morning on the I-5 Freeway South, near the State Route 120 East Connector, south of Louise Avenue.
The incident was reported on July 27th at approximately 5:16 a.m., involving a white Chevrolet Equinox and a black Chevrolet truck, as well as an unknown third vehicle. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), initial reports indicated a crash with major injuries, prompting a swift emergency response.
At the scene, responders found lanes blocked and emergency services including Stockton Fire Department were dispatched to assist. An open line from an iPhone crash notification suggested that one of the individuals involved was possibly moaning in pain, indicating distress and potential serious injuries.
By 6:20 a.m., some lanes were cleared and reopened, but the incident posed significant delays for morning commuters. The vehicles involved were towed from the scene by Lang One Towing, and the investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
Authorities are appealing to witnesses who may have seen the collision to come forward with any information that could aid the investigation.
