Laura Lowe, 60, Seriously Injured in Cambria Hit-and-Run at Highway 1 and Ardath
CAMBRIA, CA (September 26, 2021) – Laura Lowe was seriously injured after a hit-and-run crash at Highway 1 and Ardath Drive in Cambria.
Family members identified the 60-year-old Morro Bay woman as the victim of the collision which took place on Friday morning.
The incident began when Laura Lowe was riding a bicycle south on Highway 1, approaching Ardath Drive, in Cambria. At the same time, a vehicle was going east on Ardath.
For an unknown reason, the driver made a right turn onto the highway. The California Highway Patrol said the two then collided in the intersection.
Bicycle Rider Hit by Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found the rider down on the ground. Laura Lowe sustained serious injuries as a result of the Cambria crash.
Medical personnel rushed her to the Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo for treatment. Her injuries included multiple broken ribs and broken collarbones.
The Tribune wrote that the accident occurred on September 24 at around 9 a.m. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the motorist did not stop to help to the bicyclist and fled the area.
Officials described the car as a black Lexus or Toyota sedan. The car obtained damage to its driver’s side and front-end following the collision.
The Cambria hit-and-run crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the Templeton CHP office at 805-434-1822.
