Fatal Crash on Highway 273 in Redding
REDDING, Calif. (August 30, 2022) — Lawrence Dean Alsenz, 52, died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 273, south of Wyndham Lane in Redding, the Shasta County Sheriff Coroner’s office said.
The fatal crash occurred about 11:50 p.m. on Aug. 23rd, according to the Redding Police Department.
Alsenz was reportedly pushing a shopping cart along the street in the middle of the southbound lanes of Highway 273.
Meanwhile, a driver in a 2008 Buick sedan struck him in the roadway.
Responding firefighters found Lawrence Alsenz trapped underneath the Buick, police said. They managed to extricate him from the vehicle, but sadly he died at the scene.
Investigators working on the case determined that drugs and or alcohol are not factors in the crash.
