Double Fatality at Las Posas Road and Laguna Road
CAMARILLO, Calif. (July 12, 2019) — Lawrence Washington, 76, and Teruyo Washington, 71, both died in a collision Thursday night in the Oxnard Plains near Camarillo, just northwest of Point Mugu State Park.
The two Camarillo residents riding in a 2009 Honda that was struck by another motorist who failed to stop at a stop sign at Las Posas Road and Laguna Road, the Ventura County Fire Department reported.
Teruyo Washington was driving the Honda with Lawrence Washington as his passenger, both were wearing seat belts. The crash was reported at 7:50 p.m. to police.
The crash resulted after a black Dodge Challenger heading east on Laguna Road failed to stop at a posted stop sign.
Anthony Zaragosa, 21, of Oxnard, was one of three people riding in the Dodge Challenger that struck the northbound Honda on Las Posas Road. The Honda ended up overturned in a ditch and both occupants died in the crash.
Zaragosa, and Juan Llamos, 23, of Oxnard, who was also riding in the Dodge, were both taken to Los Robles Hospital with minor injuries. The third occupant declined medical treatment. It’s unknown at this time who was driving the Dodge.
The crash remains under investigation to determine liability.
