Fatal California City Pedestrian Accident
KERN COUNTY, Calif. (Nov. 30, 2023) — Leah Makiah Ida Phillips, 27, died in a pedestrian accident Wednesday night on California City Boulevard near Deep Well Street.
The young woman was struck by a vehicle at around 6:26 p.m. on Nov. 29th, according to the California City Police Department.
Police officers responded to the crash scene and located the injured woman lying on a dirt shoulder on the eastbound side of the roadway, according to Bakersfield Now.
They provided life-saving measures on Leah Phillips, but she died from her injuries.

Authorities investigating the deadly accident determined that the woman was driving a vehicle and pulled over on the shoulder of the roadway. She exited her car and reportedly ran into traffic where she was struck by a 79-year-old Mojave man driving 2019 Toyota Avalon.
The driver stopped and cooperated with investigators.
Police do not suspect speed and or alcohol were factors in the crash.

The case remains under investigation.
