Leana Rubin Killed in Car Crash at Lone Tree Way and Indian Hill Drive

DATE OF ACCIDENT: Friday, January 11th
January 13, 2019 – Two teenagers were killed, and several others were injured following a solo-car accident in the area of Lone Tree Way and Indian Hill Drive Friday evening.
According to the East Bay Times, a vehicle driven by 17-year-old Leana Rubin was traveling in the area when for an unknown reason Rubin lost control and overcorrected. The sudden movement led the vehicle to slam into a tree along the roadway.
Responding medical teams immediately attended to the several juveniles found at the scene. The driver, later identified as Rubin, sadly died due to injuries sustained in the crash.
Authorities added another teenager passenger was killed in the accident. The second fatality was identified as 13-year-old Jaia Lightner, an eighth-grader at Delta Vista Middle School.

Four other passengers in the car–another 13-year-old girl, as well as a 16-year-old boy and two 17-year-old girls–sustained injuries of unknown severity as a result of the wreck.
Investigators believed the wet condition was a factor in the crash. At this time, liability in the deadly accident is still being determined.
