1 Killed, 1 Seriously Injured in Lebec Crash on Interstate 5 and Fort Tejon
LEBEC, CA (January 14, 2022) – A car crash killed one person and seriously injured another on the Interstate 5 and Fort Tejon Road in Lebec.
According to the FOX 26 News and 23 ABC News, the tragic accident took place on Friday morning. Officers reported the wreck at around 6:20 a.m.
The incident began when a 2015 Ford Transit and a 2021 Alfa Romero collided for an unknown reason on the Grapevine. The two crashed in the center lanes of the northbound Interstate 5 in Lebec.
2 Cars Collide
The California Highway Patrol said the Ford rolled over due to the impact of the collision, north of Fort Tejon Road.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced the 26-year-old man driving the Alfa Romero dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford sustained major injuries as a result of the wreck.
Medical personnel took the patient the Kern Medical for treatment. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the northbound lanes Interstate 5 to shut down near Fort Tejon following the incident. The cause of the fatal Lebec crash is still under investigation.
