Man, 26, Killed in Lemon Grove DUI Crash State Route 94 Near SR-125
LEMON GROVE, CA (July 17, 2022) – A DUI crash killed a man on State Route 94 near State Route 125 in Lemon Grove.
According to an article published by the San Diego Union-Tribune, the tragic accident took place early Sunday. Officers reported the collision at about 2:30 a.m.
The The California Highway Patrol said the incident began when two sedans collided for an unknown reason on eastbound State Route 94 in Lemon Grove.
One of them then plunged down an embankment and ended up against the concrete barrier on north State Route 125. The other car came to a stop on State Route 94.
Drunk Driver Hits Victim
A male driver involved exited his vehicle as a result of the collision. A car going east on SR-94 approached and struck him in the process.
The victim, a 26-year-old man, died following the incident. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police arrived and determined that the 27-year-old motorist who struck the victim was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
They soon arrested the person on suspicion of DUI at the scene. CHP forced the eastbound lanes of State Route 94 to shut down for hours after the collision.
The Lemon Grove DUI crash is still under investigation.
