Constantino Banda-Acosta Arrested for Hit-and-Run
SAN YSIDRO- A man identified as Constantino Banda-Acosta, 38, has been arrested following a hit-and-run collision which injured a young boy and his family Saturday at the intersection of Dairy Mart Road and Camino de la Plaza, per the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Benjamin Lake, his wife-Ingrid, and his son- Lennox Lake, were on their way home from a day trip from Disneyland when drunk driver Constantino Banda-Acosta ran a stop sign and bulldozed into the drivers side rear door at 11:30 p.m.
The collision caused major injuries to Lennox Lake, 6, who was unconscious, unable to breathe, with blood coming from both his ears, nose and head. He was promptly rushed to Rady Children’s Hospital with major injuries. He has already undergone two surgical procedures as of Tuesday evening, according to the mother, Cheryl Lake.
Per the article, doctors at Rady Children’s Hospital believe that the young boy will be able to make a full on recovery despite the degree of his injuries.
Lennox’s father Benjamin remained lodged inside the vehicle, a Honda, while his wife-Ingrid was able to remove herself on her own. Both Ingrid and Benjamin were moderately injured and taken to hospitals for their injuries.
Meanwhile, Banda-Acosta was later arrested by police officials after hitting a second vehicle a short ways away from the first collision. He was eventually detained and also determined to have been under the influence. He remains jailed on $100,000 bail.
Banda-Acosta has an extended criminal history and is here in the US illegally after being deported from the country over 15 times, the article added.
