Leo Hawkins Struck and Killed in National City Crash
NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (July 23, 2018) — Leo Hawkins, 62, of San Diego, died in a pedestrian accident on the Interstate 805 Freeway, just east of 4th Street, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
The crash took place in the northbound lanes of the freeway about 4:07 a.m. on July 18th.
Witnesses saw Hawkins walking on the right shoulder of the freeway. Paramedics called 911 to respond after he was reportedly struck by a driver as he attempted to cross the freeway on foot.
The man died at the scene of the collision.
Traffic Accident Investigation
At this time, police are investigating the cause of the crash and liability.
