Leonardo Alcantara, 81, Killed in National City Hit-and-Run Crash on 8th Street
NATIONAL CITY, CA (June 2, 2021) – Leonardo Alcantara was killed after a hit-and-run crash on 8th Street in National City.
Police identified the 81-year-old man as the victim of the fatal pedestrian accident which took place more than two months ago.
The incident happened on March 17 when Leonardo Alcantara was walking north across East 8th Street in National City. At the same time, a vehicle was going west.
Elderly Pedestrian Hit by Car Near Interstate 805
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the crash site, near the Interstate 805 underpass. They then found Leonardo Alcantara left lying along 8th Street as a result of the accident.
Medical personnel soon pronounced him dead at the scene. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the elderly man and fled the area.
Officers described the car involved as a dark blue or dark gray 2012- 2015 Chevrolet Malibu or Chevrolet Cruze. The vehicle sustained minimal front-end damage upon impact.
