 Leonidas Serech Fatal Bicycle Accident Olympic Blvd., KoreatownMan Killed in Hit-and-run Bicycle Collision Identified

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 27, 2022) – Leonidas Accip Serech, 39, died in a Koreatown hit-and-run crash while riding a bicycle alongside his brother early Tuesday at Olympic Boulevard and Mariposa Avenue.

The man’s brother was injured in the collision about 3:40 a.m. on April 26th at Olympic Boulevard and Mariposa Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The two men were riding their bikes to work at the time of the collision. Leonidas Serech died at the scene of the crash, while paramedics transported his brother to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries, police said. The motorist in a white Jeep fled the scene without stopping to help the two victims.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner identified the victim on its website.

Suspect Vehicle is Jeep

The vehicle involved is described as a white Jeep Cherokee. Police say that prior to hitting the two bicycle riders, it was parked on the north curb of Olympic Boulevard. As its driver pulled away, a someone who was the victim of an unrelated auto theft, reportedly jumped onto the hood of the Jeep. The person believed this person was the auto thief who stole their vehicle. The truck drove off with the victim on the hood and drove westbound on Olympic Boulevard. The person eventually fell off the vehicle and onto the street, police said. It’s unknown at this time what became of that person.

Meanwhile, investigators are working on the case and seeking the public’s help finding the suspect. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to people who provide information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of a hit-and-run motorist.
