Multi-Vehicle Collision on Highway 108 Near Long Barn Area
Sonora, CA (July 23, 2022) – Leroy Keller, and Earlene Keller both suffered injuries following a traffic crash that occurred on Highway 108 on July 16.
According to an article published online by My Motherlode News, authorities spotted a recently stolen vehicle traveling west on SR-108 near Long Barn Area. Officers attempted to pull over the allegedly stolen grey Ford F350 pickup truck. The article published online mentioned the suspect failed to yield, and accelerated.
In an attempt to evade police, the suspect crossed over the double yellow lines and made an unsafe passing maneuver. Our sources indicated the Ford crashed into a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 86-year-old Leroy Keller, of Sonora. Following the initial collision, the Ford careened and crashed into a 2016 Chevrolet Sonic. The force from the impact sent both the Ford and Chevrolet towards the direction of the embankment. Authorities added a 2018 Subaru Outback was also later involved in the mishap.
Responding paramedics rendered aid to all parties found at the crash site. After the evaluation, officials confirmed Leroy Keller, and Earlene Keller both sustained injuries as a result of the wreck. Emergency crews transported the couple to Doctors Medical Center and Memorial Medical Center for further treatment.
Police eventually arrested the suspect for possession of a stolen vehicle; assault with a deadly weapon and passing over a divided highway; and causing injuries.
