Bicycle Rider Lester Legarda, 37, Killed in San Mateo County Crash on Cañada Road
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA (April 11, 2023) – Lester Legarda was killed after a bicycle crash on Cañada Road in San Mateo County.
Officials identified the 37-year-old South San Francisco man as the victim in the fatal accident which took place on Monday.
The incident happened when Lester Legarda was riding a bicycle on northbound Cañada Road near Filoli in San Mateo County. An Acura was traveling in the same direction at the time.
For an unknown reason, the car struck him. The California Highway Patrol said the two collided near the areas of Redwood City and Woodside.
Victim Hit by Car
The East Bay Times and NBC Bay Area wrote that the collision occurred on April 10 shortly after 5 p.m. The impact of the crash then knocked Lester Legarda onto the ground.
Paramedics arrived and soon pronounced him dead at the scene. Meanwhile, medical personnel rushed the driver and passenger of the Acura to a hospital for precaution.
Officers forced Cañada Road to shut down in both directions at Edgewood Road for a time after the bicycle accident. The cause of the San Mateo County crash is still under investigation.
