2 Hospitalized: Car Accident on State Route 299
LEWISTON, Calif. (Sept. 12, 2023) — A major injury Lewiston crash happened Tuesday on Highway 299, just west of Fawn Lodge Road in Trinity County.
The multi-vehicle collision occurred around 1 p.m. on Sept. 12th, near the Fawnlodge Forest Fire Station 61, according to the California Highway Patrol.
UPDATED: Woman suffers major injuries in Lewiston crash
The drivers of a Jeep and a Mitsubishi collided due to unknown circumstances. The Jeep went off the roadway around 10 feet up an embankment. The Mitsubisihi went into a ditch roughly 15 feet off the roadway.
Paramedics with the Trinity County Fire Department responded and located two elderly women from two different vehicles suffering from neck and back injuries, the report said. They were transported to a hospital for treatment. At least one person had a major injury from the accident.
Meanwhile, tow trucks removed both damaged vehicles from the roadway.
Investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the crash on Highway 299 in Lewiston.
