Lily Renn, 38, Badly Injured in Buellton Crash on Highway 101
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, CA (February 1, 2021) – A fatal car crash badly injured Lily Renn along Highway 101 north of Buellton.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 38-year-old Oakland woman as one of the drivers involved in the wreck last week on Friday.
The incident happened when Lily Aliza Renn was driving a 2013 northbound on Highway 101, north of Highway 154. At the same time, a 2009 Hyundai was also going north in the right lane.
CHP said the motorist in the Hyundai, 67-year-old Thomas Vernon Smith, began to pass the Lexus. The Guadalupe man was traveling 50 to 60 mph in the left lane when he and Renn sideswiped each other.

Renn swerved to the left, braked and caused her vehicle to veer toward the center divider and into a tree. The Hyundai spun out of control and then went up a steep embankment along the center divider.
The 2009 car rolled over and ultimately slammed into a tree. According to the article published by The Santa Maria Times, the accident took place on January 29 at around 7 p.m. near Twin Oaks.
CHP affirmed that a passerby took Renn to Santa Ynez Cottage Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. Meanwhile, Smith died at the scene.
Th tragic crash is still under investigation.
