Man Killed in Lincoln Park Hit-and-Run Near Logan Avenue and 49th Street
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 6, 2022) – A hit-and-run crash killed a pedestrian near Logan Avenue and 49th Street in Lincoln Park.
According to The San Diego Union-Tribune and NBC San Diego, the tragic accident took place on Sunday evening. Officers reported the collision at about 7:15 p.m.
The incident began when a male pedestrian was walking near Logan Avenue and South 49th Street in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.
Driver Hits Pedestrian, Flees Scene
San Diego police said a vehicle then struck him for an unknown reason. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near the Harley E. Knox Middle School.
Medical personnel found the man in his 50s or 60s left lying on the ground as a result of the collision. They soon rushed him to a hospital and died on the way.
The name of the deceased victim has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver did not stop to help the man and fled the area.
Officers forced the corner of Logan Avenue and South 49th Street to shut down following the incident. The cause of the fatal Lincoln Park hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
