FOWLER, California (May 17, 2016) — A large 2010 Freightliner truck crashed into the back of a car Monday afternoon on Highway 99 killing a 58-year-old woman identified as Linda Gutierrez whose car was forced into a cement wall, according to the Fresno Bee.
The fatal crash took place about 5 p.m. near Clovis Avenue.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the truck driver was traveling about 45 mph when traffic ahead began to slow down and the driver did not apply brakes fast enough to avoid hitting the woman’s silver Ford Edge.
The force of the impact sent the vehicle off the roadway and into a concrete wall.
Per the Fresno Bee, Linda Gutierrez sadly did not survive the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Gutierrez’s 44-year-old passenger suffered a broken right arm and was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The truck driver and his passenger were not injured.
