Fatal Hit-and-Run Collision at Fairview Road and Baker Street
Costa Mesa, CA (June 16, 2022) – Linda Jean Lefler, a 64-year-old woman, died following a suspected hit-and-run crash that occurred in the area of Fairview Road and Baker Street.
According to the Daily Pilot News, a vehicle struck a pedestrian at the intersection in Costa Mesa. Officials mentioned the woman attempted to cross the roadway outside of the crosswalk when the accident happened. After the collision, the driver apparently accelerated and fled the scene.
Emergency crews arrived at the site shortly after 9 p.m. Our sources indicated responding paramedics found the victim unconscious. Despite life-saving measures, the woman sadly succumbed to her injuries and passed away. Authorities identified the deceased as Linda Jean Lefler, of Costa Mesa.
Meanwhile, investigators mentioned the hit-and-run suspect was possibly driving a silver Toyota sedan. The collision may have resulted in moderate front-end damage as well as windshield damage to the car.
Detectives continue to work at this time to determine several unclear factors surrounding the unfortunate incident.
