Car Crashes into Comunidad Misionera Cristiana Church Building on Clark Avenue; Randy Lesinsky Arrested
HACIENDA HEIGHTS, Calif. (Sept. 10, 2018) – Linda Vidal and Mario Cuatepotzo were among three people injured when a driver crashed his grey Honda Accord into a church building where pedestrians were standing, according to ABC News.
The collision was reported on Sunday, Sept. 9, at 3:15 p.m. in the 14900 block of Clark Avenue, the California Highway Patrol said. The Honda crashed into the front entrance of the building and became wedged.
Prior to the collision, worshipers leaving the Comunidad Misionera Cristiana church had walked over to a nearby building and were gathered in front of the entrance when a suspected drunken driver crashed through a fence and struck several people including the church’s pastor, Linda Vidal. Mario Cuatepotzo reportedly became stuck underneath the vehicle. He reportedly crawled out and shouted that he couldn’t feel his legs after the crash. Another person inside the home was also struck by the vehicle.
All three people were hospitalized, one with major injuries.
Police arrested the suspected DUI driver Randy Lesinsky, 49, of Hacienda Heights, after they confirmed his blood-alcohol content. There were also beer cans found in his vehicle. He was booked on suspicion of felony driving under the influence causing injuries and is being held without bail.
A GoFundMe post identified the church’s pastor and a church member who were severely injured. The church recently renovated the building and now is hoping to raise money for repairs and to help the injured.
