Driver Faces Manslaughter Charges for Death of Mother on Bike
CARLSBAD, Calif. (June 8, 2023) — Lindsay Turmelle, 42, of Carlsbad, has been arrested on vehicular manslaughter charges for the death of a woman in a bicycle accident in August at Basswood Avenue and Valley Street in Carlsbad.
The traffic accident occurred on August 7, 2022 at the Carlsbad intersection, according to the Times of San Diego.
The woman was driving a Toyota 4-Runner SUV when she allegedly struck another woman riding an electric bicycle with her toddler. The bicycle rider and the 16-month-old girl were transported to a hospital where the woman died, but the baby was not injured.
The name of the woman who died has not been released at this time.
Lindsay Turmelle plead not guilty to vehicular manslaughter charges filed by the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office. There was an extensive investigation by the Carlsbad Police Department’s traffic division and the California Highway Patrol’s Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team.
