SAN DIEGO (Feb. 23, 2018) — Lisa Ann Burgess, 43, of White Hills, Arizona, was killed early Friday morning after she ran across the southbound freeway following a two-vehicle collision on the northbound Interstate 5 at Lomas Santa Fe Drive, the California Highway Patrol reports.
The woman had been driving a silver Hyundai Sonata at a high rate of speed when she allegedly cut around another motorist and rear-ended a black Lincoln LS, the CHP report said. The Lincoln spun out due to the impact of the crash.
The initial collision took place about 4:15 a.m. this morning in the Solano Beach area. Police issued a SigAlert for the Nos. 3 and 4 lanes. Then the woman was struck by an oncoming vehicle as she attempted to run across the freeway, but sadly she died of her injuries at the scene.
“Police will fully investigate this car accident to determine liability,” said Attorney James Johnson.
It’s important that people injured in a crash are aware of their legal rights and it’s just as important to not delay treatment as it could hurt your potential personal injury case.

San Diego Accident Investigation
An investigation into this collision is underway to determine fault for both of these collisions. Police will interview all those involved and witnesses as well as piece together evidence at the scene to make this determination.
If a negligent driver is at fault for a collision that left you injured or has taken the life of a loved one, there may also be grounds for a civil lawsuit or wrongful death claim. This is always a personal decision, but for many the financial losses associated with a traffic accident can be significant.
It’s important to note, however, that it’s quite common for insurance companies to try and avoid paying out a claim even when they know their insured is responsible. They may also make an offer to settle for far less than the full amount owed.
If you, or your loved one, have been hurt in a California traffic accident, we urge you to contact Johnson Attorneys Group today and speak with one of our experienced personal injury lawyers to help you. We will bring our expertise to your case and guide you every step of the way. Give our office a call at 800-235-6801 for a free consultation. – sks
