LIVE OAK: Fatal Pedestrian Accident Highway 1 and Soquel Drive

Fatality on SR1 Near Soquel Causes Major Traffic Disruptions
LIVE OAK, Calif. (April 4, 2025) — A fatal pedestrian accident on southbound Highway 1 near Soquel Drive in Live Oak resulted in significant traffic delays this morning.
The traffic accident, which occurred just south of La Fonda, happened around 4:58 AM on April 4th, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
A driver struck a pedestrian due to unknown circumstances and the person died at the scene. The driver pulled over to the right shoulder and called 911 for help.
Due to the crash, CHP officers closed multiple lanes and diverted traffic at the Morrissey ramp to allow emergency responders to clear the area.
Also, authorities issued a SigAlert, and Caltrans began assisting with traffic control. By 8:03 AM, all lanes were reopened, and the incident was cleared.
Finally, the identity of the deceased person has not been released and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
