LIVE OAK, Sutter County (March 28, 2017) – A 76-year-old woman in a motorized wheelchair was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash on Archer Avenue Monday evening, according to Appeal Democrat.
The accident took place around 7:30 p.m.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said Matilde Angel was operating her scooter east on the north edge of Archer Avenue when she was struck by a car headed west. The vehicle was traveling at 40 mph at the time.
Angel, of Live Oak, was taken to Rideout Memorial Hospital be treated for major injuries. Her condition was not released.
Meanwhile CHP affirmed that the driver involved, identified as 54-year-old Mohinder Mendi, did not stop to render aid and fled the scene. The Live Oak man was found driving to nearby residence on K Street and later arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run causing injuries and driving under the influence
