Major Injury Car Accident on I-580 Freeway in Livermore
LIVERMORE, Calif. (Sept. 19, 2023) — A major injury Livermore crash on the westbound Interstate 580 Freeway happened Tuesday morning near the Vasco Road on ramp.
The multi-vehicle collision occurred around 5:28 a.m. on Sept. 19th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials issued a SigAlert after the accident involving three motorists. The report stated a driver in a white compact car was allegedly speeding when it “merged and crossed lanes” before it hit a semi-truck and a car, the report said. The vehicles were blocking the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes.
Also, a woman became trapped inside one of the vehicles and it was smoking and possibly caught on fire, the report said.
Paramedics with the Alameda County Fire Department responded and rushed at least one person with major injuries to a hospital, but there are no further details at this time.
Investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the crash on the 580 Freeway in Livermore.
