Livermore crash Altamont Pass Northfront
1 Killed, 3 Injured in Livermore Crash at Altamont Pass and Northfront Roads
LIVERMORE, CA (November 24, 2022) – A crash at Altamont Pass and Northfront roads killed one person and injured several others in Livermore.
According to the East Bay Times and SF Chronicle, the tragic accident took place on Thursday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck shortly after 12:50 p.m. east of Greenville Road.
The incident began when a blue Honda Civic was going east on Altamont Pass Road, approaching Northfront Road, in Livermore. The car was traveling at speeds of between 40 to 50 mph.
The Honda came upon slower-moving traffic, tried to pass the vehicles and then crossed solid double yellow lines. In the process, the Civic drove east westbound lane.
2 Cars Collide
The California Highway Patrol said the Honda slammed head-on into the Toyota headed west at about the same speed. Firefighters arrived and pronounced a passenger of the Civic dead at the scene.
The motorist in the Honda sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. The driver of the Toyota and a 16-year-old passenger survived the incident with minor to moderate injuries.
Medical personnel rushed the three patients to hospitals for treatment. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the area of Altamont Pass and Northfront roads to shut down for a time following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Livermore crash is still under investigation.
