Fatal Livermore Truck, Car Accident I-580 Freeway
LIVERMORE, Calif. (Sept. 21, 2020) — At least one person has died in a collision between an SUV and a semi-tractor trailer truck on the westbound Interstate 580 Freeway in Livermore.
The California Highway Patrol reported the collision took place about 1:22 p.m., just west of Airway Boulevard. Upon impact, the SUV overturned three or four times before it landed back on its wheel and crossed multiple traffic lanes, police said.
A SigAlert was issued just before 2 p.m. due to multiple lanes being blocked. At least one person was trapped in the vehicle and died in the crash, but there were no further details provided by the CHP.
The cause of the crash and liability are under investigation by police. The CHP incident number is 01213.
