DUI Hit-and-Run Driver in Selma Fatal Crash ID’d as Lizbeth Romero-Resendez, 26
SELMA, CA (March 30, 2021) – Authorities detained Lizbeth Romero-Resendez after a fatal DUI hit-and-run crash in Selma.
Police determined that the 26-year-old Parlier woman was under under the influence of alcohol when the wreck occurred on Tuesday.
The incident happened when Lizbeth Romero-Resendez was driving a Honda Accord near the intersection of Floral Avenue and A Street in Selma. She then struck a Chevy Tahoe in the area.
The SUV was unoccupied at the time. It sustained major damage upon impact. Police said Lizbeth Romero-Resendez did not stop following the collision and fled the scene.
Man Killed in Car Crash at Floral Avenue and A Street
Police found the Honda abandoned with front-end damage near Floral Avenue and E Street. Bakersfield Now and ABC 30 News reported the accident at around 1 a.m.
Paramedics responded to the crash site and found a male passenger left suffering from major injuries and unconscious in the back seat of the Accord. They rushed him to a hospital, where he died.
His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, Romero-Resendez and another woman ran away and hid behind a gate of a house on Flora Avenue.
Officers located and took them for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. They soon arrested Romero-Resendez on vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, hit-and-run and DUI.
Authorities also charged her with driving with a suspended driver’s license and set her bail at $137,000. Records showed that she has multiple DUI arrests and is also on court probation for DUI.
