Lloyd Miller, Willis Bontrager Killed in Collision on I-5 Freeway Near Coalinga
3 Dead in Head-on Crash on the Interstate 5 Freeway in Fresno County
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (June 25, 2025) — Lloyd Miller, 21, of Middlebury, Indiana, and Willis Bontrager, 23, of Elroy, Wisconsin, were among three who died June 19th in a collision with a suspected wrong-way driver on the Interstate 5 Freeway near Coalinga.
On Tuesday, the Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner released the names of those who died in the collision.
Diana Lawrence, 74, of Cassell, also died in the crash. She was allegedly driving a Jeep that crashed into a cargo van occupied by the two young men. They were transporting puppies for their co-owned business called the Puppy Wagon. Several of the puppies in the van also died in the fiery crash.
The head-on collision occurred on Interstate 5 at Highway 145 in Fresno County, the report said.
The Puppy Wagon website released a statement about the crash.
“Words cannot express the heartbreak we feel. Lloyd and Willis were not only valued members of our team, they were our dear friends, wonderful sons and brothers, and shining lights in the lives of so many.”
