Lodi crash Interstate 5 Turner
1 Killed, 1 Badly Injured in Lodi Crash on Interstate 5 Near Turner Road
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CA (August 22, 2021) – One was killed and another was badly injured after a DUI crash on the Interstate 5 near Lodi.
According to an article published by the KCRA News, the tragic accident took place early Sunday. Officers reported the wreck at about 2:07 a.m.
The incident began when a Lexus was going north on the Interstate 5, just north of West Turner Road, near Lodi. At the same time, a Toyota was traveling at a high rate of speed behind.
The California Highway Patrol said the Toyota then slammed into the rear of the Lexus. In the process, the Lexus struck a guard rail into the southbound median of the Interstate 5 near Turner.
Speeding DUI Driver Hits Another Car
A passenger riding the Lexus ended up ejected from the car upon impact. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced the person dead at the scene.
The driver of the Lexus sustained moderate injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel took the patient to a hospital for treatment.
The names of the deceased and wounded victims have not been yet released. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the speeding motorist fled the area following the wreck.
The man later turned himself in to the Lodi police. Authorities soon arrested and took him into custody on DUI charges.
Officers forced a stretch of the Interstate 5 near Turner Road to shut down following the collision. The fatal Lodi crash is still under investigation.
