LOMPOC, California (August 28, 2016) – Two were killed and two others were injured in a head-on crash on Santa Lucia Canyon Road Sunday afternoon, according to Noozhawk.
The collision took place shortly before 12:30 p.m. near Klein Boulevard.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said Dodge Challenger and a Honda Accord collided head-on near the entrance to the Lompoc Federal Correctional Institution.
One person was immediately pronounced dead at the scene while another died while being extricated from a vehicle involved.
Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department identified the deceased as 57-year-old Bertha Betancourt and 51-year-old Ruben Betancourt. They were described as a Lompoc couple.
Meanwhile, their son was transported to a local hospital and was listed in critical condition. Another party involved was also injured in the incident.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
