Long Beach, CA (August 6, 2021) – A pedestrian died following a traffic accident that occurred in the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Hayes Avenue on August 5, Thursday.

According to My News LA, a person was seen standing in the street near the north curb of Pacific Coast Highway around 6 p.m. For an unknown reason, the pedestrian ran southbound across the highway.

Deadly Pedestrian Accident in Long Beach, August 5

Officials said an oncoming big rig struck the individual. The force from the impact resulted in life-threatening injuries to the pedestrian. When paramedics arrived, they reportedly performed CPR to the victim. Sadly, the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries and died at the scene. The identity of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, authorities continue to withhold information on the operator of the semi truck involved in the horrible crash.

Investigators continue to work at this time to determine liability in the deadly pedestrian accident on Pacific Coast Highway.
